WHAT IS GOODPHIL?
The GoodPhil Games is a three-day conference and competition that unites all thirteen of the Filipino Student Associations (FSAs) from all over Texas, including Oklahoma as they face each other head-to-head in three different categories of dance and individual sports.
It is a huge annual event held in the spring semester that rotates between one of five designated host colleges every year. Furthermore, not only FSA members come to participate, but also invited friends and family who come to showcase their loudest and proudest school spirit and provide support.
HOW DO I QUALIFY TO PARTICIPATE?
In order to participate in these events, PhilSA members not only MUST have their semester dues paid off, but also reach the REQUIRED amount of points by the designated final date when points are added up. Only then, the PhilSA member is qualified to participate in GoodPhil events.
For this year, all members must reach a...
- MAXIMUM of 20 points from Sports (per semester).
- MINIMUM of 10 points from Cultural (per semester).
There will be plenty of point opportunities from events/meetings/concessions/workshops planned out throughout the year that will allow members to rack up points. No excuses!
If a member is unable to meet both qualifications, he/she/they are unable to participate in the event, but can attend as a viewer.
DAY ONE: DANCE
DAY TWO: INDIVIDUAL SPORTS
For this upcoming GP competition at UH, spike ball has been added. ****
As the finals of the sports competition winds down, the awards ceremony takes place where schools are awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies for Cultural, Spirit, Modern, and individual sports.
After tallying up the scores from all schools in the events that they participate in, the host school then awards the schools with the top three scores, giving the coveted GoodPhil trophy to the FSA with the most points.
Also awarded is the Barkada Award, given by the host school to the FSA with the friendliest members and best sportsmanship.
